We host workshops for people who love writing.
Grackle and Grackle is a boutique writing workshop space.
Some classes are geared towards writers of all levels of experience. Others are specialized and intensive where the students may have already published work and even each writing themselves.
Some of our offerings are absolutely free. Drop by our open Grackle Scratch community writing hours or ask for the sliding scale for paid workshops if you have a limited income. Miah also offers one-on-one editing and coaching, typically for book projects, for folks who have the means.

Classes are nonrefundable twelve days before the start day of class and beyond. If you contact us before twelve days of the start date, we can offer you a credit for 50% of the cost of the class to be used toward another class. Otherwise, there are no refunds on classes.
This is not to be punitive, but because we are a small business that makes decisions based on class size and if even a few people add and drop classes each semester, it adds to our workload, and subtracts from our ability to know if a class will make or not, and from our bottom line.

Email miah@grackleandgrackle.com and let me know exactly what amount of discount or scholarship you need to take the class. For a class that fills up quickly, we only have a couple scholarships, so email early! I always make sure anybody who wants to take a class can take a class.

In a creative writing class it is important that all students are able to share and to speak so the community is strong. If a single student endangers, bullies, or disrespects other students or the teacher by acting aggressively, by not listening or talking so much others can't engage, Grackle and Grackle reserves the right to ask them to leave, and the class will not be refunded.

If the teachers have to put off a class due to illness or weather, one more week will be added to the timeline of classes, so you won't lose a week.
In some cases, the last class may have to be on Zoom, even for an in-person class -- but this exception is rare.
If you miss a class, ask the teacher and fellow classmates what you missed.

We offer sliding scale tuition on classes to ensure that anybody who wants to take a class at Grackle and Grackle can do so. Please inquire.
